Update 4:40AM CST…

A Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect  for wind chills in the -15 to -25-degree range from 5AM to 1PM CST Saturday over a good portion of northeast Illinois. As sky conditions improve here, strengthening northwest winds will drive colder air into our area with dangerous wind chills of -15 to -25-degrees expected over a good portion of northeast Illinois and eastern Wisconsin (light blue-shaded area on the highlighted map). Because of remnant cloudiness/flurries Will, Kankakee, Ford and Iroquois Counties in Illinois as well as the counties in northwest Indiana are not included in the Saturday Wind Chill Advisory, but they should encounter wind chills in the -5 to -15-degree range.

Looking ahead, a secondary push of extremely cold air will arrive Sunday evening and hover over the Chicago area into Tuesday. As a result the Chicago National Weather Service has issued another Wind Chill Advisory  calling for area-wide wind chills of -20 to -30-degrees beginning Sunday evening and continuing through New Years Day and overnight through Tuesday morning (light-blue-shaded area on the map below).
