Up to 4 inches of snow expected in NW Indiana; dusting north of city

CHICAGO — A Winter Storm that looked rather formidable will only have a significant impact on the southern half of metro Chicago.

Instead of passing over South Bend, Indiana, the storm center ended up 200 miles further southeast, closer to Cincinnati.

By Wednesday night at 9 p.m., snowfall totals will range from 1″ to 3″ in the city and 2″-4″ in northwest Indiana. across the south suburbs into northwest Indiana. The north and northwest suburbs will only receive a dusting.

The Winter Storm Watch was canceled for NE Illinois. A Winter Weather Advisory goes is in effect through 6 p.m. Wednesday for the area.

With strong northeast winds gusting over 35 mph gradually shifting to the north-northwest Wednesday, a Lakeshore Flood Warning is in effect through Wednesday at 3 p.m. along the Illinois Lake Michigan shoreline where waves 8 to 12-feet are expected and the Indiana Lake Michigan shoreline.
