CHICAGO -- The first significant snowfall of the 2016-17 snow season began falling across the Chicago Metro area this morning and quickly became moderate to heavy, and as temperatures hovered near the freezing mark, the snow began to accumulate on roads and pavements, especially those untreated with snow-melting chemicals.
