The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for portions of Cook County, Will County, Kankakee County and northwest Indiana.

The warning, for southeast Cook, east-central Will and northeast Kankakee County, will last until 4:15 p.m. Quarter-size hail and wind gusts as high as 60 m.p.h. are possible, the agency said.

The rest of northeast Illinois could also get some stormy weather today, with possible heavy rain and lightning in additon to high winds and hail as rains move east across the area from Iowa. There could be periodic rainstorms on Monday as well.

Today and the early part of the week are expected to be some of the warmest days we have had this summer, with temepratures possibly reaching into the 90s to go with high humidity.
