CHICAGO — The National Weather Service (NWS) in Chicago issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for La Porte County, IN lasting until 7:15 p.m. CT Tuesday.
The same storm system caused skies to suddenly turn dark as parts of the Chicago area were pelted with quarter-size hail Tuesday evening. A thunderstorm warning in the city expired at 5 p.m, when radar indicated the thunderstorm had moved east of Chicago and over Lake Michigan.
Earlier in the day, the National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for parts of Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin, but it is no longer in effect.
