Strong thunderstorms move across IL; warning expires in McHenry, Boon counties

CHICAGO — A Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued for parts of McHenry and Boon counties has since expired, but thunderstorms with gusty winds, hail, and downpours are possible in the next half hour in the area.

At 4:28 p.m., Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Hebron, or near Harvard, moving east at 30 mph.

Nickel size hail and wind gusts up to 50 mph will be possible with this storm.

This strong thunderstorm will be near Woodstock and Greenwood around 4:40 p.m., and Wonder Lake, Richmond and Bull Valley around 4:45 p.m. CDT.

A severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect until 9 p.m. for northeastern Illinois.
