Watches and warning issued as severe weather erupts across state

The strong storms will continue to advance towards Chicago tonight.

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Will, Kankakee and Lake County, Ind. until 11:45 p.m.

 A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for Boone; Cook; De Kalb; DuPage; Ford; Grundy; Iroquois; Kane; Kankakee; Kendall; Lake; McHenry and Will until 3 a.m.

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Iroquois, Ford, Kankakee counties in Illinois and Newton County in Indiana until 10:30 p.m.

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Ogle, DeKalb, Lee, LaSalle, Livingston and Grundy counties until 10 p.m.

The strongest storms have produced a tornado between Good Hope and Bushnell along route 9 in McDonough County Illinois.  Also near that area baseball size hail and wind gusts up to 60 mph have been reported.

A tornado watch has been issued for several Illinois counties including La Salle; Lee; Livingston; Ogle and Winnebago until 11 p.m.


Both the severe thunderstorms tonight and the high winds on Wednesday will likely cause delays and cancellations to air travel.
