THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN CHICAGO HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  EAST CENTRAL COOK COUNTY IN NORTHEASTERN ILLINOIS...

* UNTIL 415 AM CDT.

* AT 1108 PM CDT, DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCING 
  TORRENTIAL RAIN ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE WARNED AREA. THE 
  COOPERATIVE OBSERVER THREE MILES SOUTHWEST OF MIDWAY AIRPORT 
  REPORTED AROUND ONE INCH OF RAIN IN 10 MINUTES. FLASH FLOODING IS 
  ONGOING OR EXPECTED TO BEGIN SHORTLY.

  HAZARD...FLASH FLOODING CAUSED BY THUNDERSTORMS.

  SOURCE...RADAR INDICATED.

  IMPACT...FLOODING OF SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS, URBAN AREAS, 
           HIGHWAYS, STREETS AND UNDERPASSES AS WELL AS OTHER 
           DRAINAGE AND LOW LYING AREAS.

* SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL EXPERIENCE FLOODING INCLUDE...
  CHICAGO, CICERO, OAK LAWN, BERWYN, OAK PARK, PARK RIDGE, MAYWOOD,
  BROOKFIELD, FRANKLIN PARK, HINSDALE, WESTCHESTER, LA GRANGE, FOREST
  PARK, JUSTICE, CHATHAM, RIVER FOREST, SUMMIT, LYONS, BURR RIDGE AND
  RIVERSIDE.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING OF 
SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS, URBAN AREAS, HIGHWAYS, STREETS AND 
UNDERPASSES AS WELL AS OTHER DRAINAGE AREAS AND LOW LYING SPOTS.

TURN AROUND, DON'T DROWN WHEN ENCOUNTERING FLOODED ROADS. MOST FLOOD
DEATHS OCCUR IN VEHICLES.

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODING.
