Tuesday sun should return briefly, only to have a low pressure disturbance track east out of the southern plains – passing to our south later in the day – possibly bringing cloudiness and a chance of showers to at least the southern portions of the Chicago area into the nighttime hours.

A nearly west-east, what meteorologists call a “zonal flow” pattern aloft will prevail the remainder of the workweek. Then warm more humid low-level southerly flow will return with an increasing chance of thunderstorms next weekend.
