On Aug. 4, 1993, one of the most infamous brawls in baseball history occurred .

Current Chicago White Sox manager and then-player Robin Ventura charged the mound after getting hit by Nolan Ryan, and he probably should have thought twice about it.

The 46-year-old Ryan grabbed the 26-year-old Ventura in a headlock, then either started punching or giving him the worst noogie ever.

Robin had very little chance from the start to win this one. Oddly, Ventura was ejected but Ryan was not. He would go on to earn the victory.

“Ryan’s six-punch KO of Ventura was a thing of beauty,” wrote Neil Hohlfeld in the Houston Chronicle. “A middle-aged legend met a 26-year-old upstart head-on and provided all middle-aged men with yet another reason to love Nolan.”
