CHICAGO - It's been an up and down season for Bulls rookie head coach Fred Hoiberg.
Less than a year into the job Hoiberg's already had to endure multiple injuries to key players, a sharp drop from the top of the Eastern Conference standings to just outside of the playoff picture and a steady stream of rumors from a handful of national writers indicating he's lost the team.
Veteran big man Taj Gibson defended his coach.
"They need to just shut up. Everybody tries to discredit this man and it's rough," remarked Gibson. "He's a rookie coach taking on a veteran group. Just give him some slack."
"He's learning. He's doing a good job. He's staying with us every day. I'm riding with him no matter what."
Gibson is doubtful for Saturday's game against the Pistons as he continues to recover from a fractured rib - an injury he says 'takes the cake' in terms of pain.
Derrick Rose may also have to sit out. Rose had an MRI on his left elbow Friday afternoon.
