Butler, another rookie who has hit safely in 12 of 13 games, drove in two runs with singles.
Hits by Mikie Mahtook, Brandon Guyer and Butler gave the Rays a 2-0 lead in the first inning against starter John Danks and they led all the way, ending Chicago’s three-game win streak.
Jake McGee pitched the ninth for his second save.
Steven Souza Jr., Jake Elmore, Nick Franklin and Kevin Kiermaier had two hits each for the Rays.
Jose Abreu hit his 12th home run for the White Sox, connecting in a third straight game for the first time in his career.
