CHICAGO — Even though the Bears are on the road, there will be plenty of blue and orange at Soldier Field this weekend.

The Land of Lincoln trophy will be up for grabs when Illinois squares off against Northwestern on Saturday in the regular season finale.

Last year’s meeting at Ryan Field didn’t end well for the Wildcats.

Both teams needed a win to become bowl eligible, but the Fighting Illini burst Northwestern’s postseason bubble in a 47-33 drubbing.

This year, Illinois is the lone team in dire straights. They need a win to get in.

As for Northwestern, it’s not just about making a better bowl. It’s about making history.

The Wildcats’ senior class can become the first group in school history to win ten games, twice.
