CHICAGO – The Chicago Bears hope to bounce back from last week’s gut-wrenching overtime loss to the 49ers when they host Washington on Sunday.

The Bears (5-7) all but dismantled their playoff hopes after they fell to San Francisco in Week 13, and are without wide receiver Marquess Wilson and tight end Martellus Bennett, both of whom were placed on season-ending injured reserve last week.

Pernell McPhee is also out for Sunday’s game. But wide receiver Eddie Royal is active and will play for the first time since October.

Still the Bears hope to build on a somewhat surprising year, which has seen them linger near the .500 mark nearly all season, including thrilling road victories against the Kansas City Chiefs and rival Green Bay Packers.

Washington, meanwhile, is fighting for a playoff berth in the mediocre NFC East, in which they, the Eagles and Giants are tied at the top of the division with, ironically, the same record as the Bears: 5-7.

Chicago will be at home for Sunday’s game. Kickoff is at noon central from Soldier Field.
