CHICAGO — A Cook County judge ruled in favor of Ernie Bank’s caretaker today and awarded her his estate.
The caretaker, Regina Rice and the estranged wife of Banks, Elizabeth, have been arguing over the Chicago Cub’s estate since he died in January.
Elizabeth claimed that Banks died without a will, effectively making her his sole heir.
But Rice, says he drew up a will three months before his death and left everything to her.
Witnesses testified that Banks did not seem ill when he signed a will leaving his entire estate to Rice.
Paralegals for the law firm executing the will said Banks stated clearly that he did not want to leave anything to his family.
An attorney for the Banks family says they will appeal the ruling.
