DALLAS, Tx. — Mike Ditka isn’t afraid of controversy, so when a Dallas radio host asked how he feels about Colin Kaepernick’s kneeling protest during the national anthem, the legendary coach’s response was quick: “I have no respect for Colin Kaepernick,” he said.
“I think it’s a problem…anybody who disrespects this country and the flag,” Ditka said during his interview with Dallas’ 105.3 The Score. “If they don’t like the country they don’t like our flag…get the hell out,” he said.
Ditka added went on to say that he “doesn’t see” any of the issues protesters like Kaepernick are talking about. He said he believes America is a “land of opportunity” because you can be anything you want if you work for it.
Ditka has faced criticism for his controversial statements in the past, including calling President Obama “the worst president we’ve ever had.”
