CHICAGO – It’s another week closer to the MLB All-Star game yet nothing has changed when it comes to the strong support for Cubs players for the “Midsummer Classic.”

As they did in the last release of All-Star balloting, five Cubs continue to lead the fan voting for the June 12th game in San Diego. As he has since the first votes were released, Anthony Rizzo is the top vote getter in the National League with 2,202,494 votes.

Third baseman Kris Bryant is second to him with 2,070,738 votes with second baseman Ben Zobrist third (2,057,122 votes) and Dexter Fowler fourth (2,003,115 votes). Though he has fewer votes than that group, Addison Russell continues to be the top shortstop in the voting with 1,489,998.

If the voting holds the Cubs would have the entire starting infield except for the catcher’s spot which is occupied by the Cardinals’ Yadier Molina. Pitcher Jake Arrieta would also have a good chance to start the All-Star game if selected by league manager Terry Collins of the New York Mets.

Another voting updates is scheduled to be released on June 27th. The game will be played Tuesday, July 12th at Petco Park in San Diego.

Here are the total votes for the National League as of Wednesday.
