CHICAGO – He’s back!

With Cubs fans hoping to retake the division this weekend, Anthony Rizzo will leadoff tonight against the Cardinals.

Rizzo had to be helped off the field in the third inning of Sunday’s game against the Pirates after rolling his right ankle badly.

The Cubs say Rizzo sprained his right ankle, but x-rays showed no fracture.

The team initially released its lineup today without him, but updated it an hour before the game. He replaces Victor Caratini at first.

Chicago is currently tied with Milwaukee for the last wildcard spot and three games back of the Cardinals.

The Professor takes the hill tonight against Jack Flaherty, who has a 1.05 ERA in 12 starts since the all-star break.

Rizzo is the only Cub with a solid batting average against the youngster, hitting .533 in 15 AB’s with two homers.

The rest of the weekend’s pitching matchups look like this:

  • Friday – Alec Mills (1-0, 3.42) vs. Michael Wacha (6-7, 4.76)
  • Saturday – Jose Quintana (13-8, 4.37) vs. Dakota Hudson (16-7, 3.35)
  • Sunday – Yu Darvish (6-7, 4.02) vs. Miles Mikolas (9-14, 4.29)
