* The Chicago Cubs were shut out by the Washington Nationals the last time these clubs took the field on May 27 – the third time in the last 10 meetings that the Nats have blanked the Cubs.

*The Nationals haven’t pushed more than five runs across the plate since an 8-6 win over the Yankees on May 19.

*Gio Gonzalez hasn’t allowed a single run in his last four starts vs. the Cubs.

*Both Denard Span and Ian Desmond had at least one base knock in each contest, extending their respective hit streaks vs. the Cubs to seven games.

*Since Jake Arrieta made his first Cubs start on July 30, 2013 he is 18-11 with a 2.90 ERA while the rest of the Cubs starters are 58-91 with a 4.35 ERA.
