CHICAGO - Doug McDermott may not play much on the Bulls annual Circus Trip.

He didn't travel with the team to Portland and he's not scheduled to join them until he's cleared by team doctors.

"I'm sure we'll get daily updates on how he's doing," Hoiberg said. "As for right now, he won't fly."

McDermott left Saturday's game early with concussion symptoms after landing face first on a flagrant foul.

"He obviously took a heck of a fall and banged his head on the floor," remarked Hoiberg. "He's still a little groggy, and hopefully we'll get him back soon."

It's the second time this season McDermott's been placed in concussion protocol.

But based on what Taj Gibson saw immediately after the fall, it's no surprise he may be out a few games.

"The first thing I noticed after he got hit was he wasn't there," noted Gibson.

McDermott has continued to improve in this third NBA season, averaging just over 23 minutes and 10 points a game.

Hoiberg says he'll use rookies Paul Zipser and Denzel Valentine, in addition to Jerian Grant to fill the void until McDermott returns.
