CHICAGO – It’s been an up and down season for one of the Bulls’ younger players, but once again he’ll get an invite to the NBA’s All-Star Weekend.
On Wendesday the league announced that Nikola Mirotic has been selected to the NBA Rising Stars Challenge on Friday, February 12th at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.
He’s one of 20 first or second year NBA players selected to participate in the 22nd annual showcase. He’ll be paired up with nine other players on the “World” team which will face ten of the best American-born players. It’s the first part of the three-day NBA All-Star Celebration that includes the Skills Challenge on Saturday and the 65th midseason classic on Sunday.

In his second season with the Bulls, Mirotic has had a slight increase in his numbers from a season ago but has struggled with consistency under new head coach Fred Hoiberg. The forward is averaging 10.6 points and 5.9 rebounds a game this year and his play from the last week has been indicative of his season.
Last Wednesday Mirotic went 0-for-5 from the field and failed to score against the Warriors and then had just five points on 1-of-7 shooting in a loss to the Celtics. But in the last two games he combined to score 32 points while shooting over 50 percent in a win over the Cavaliers and a loss to the Heat.
