Blackhawks take Game 1 of Stanley Cup Final

TAMPA BAY, Florida — The Stanley Cup Final opened in Tampa tonight with the Chicago Blackhawks exploding with a couple of late goals in a 2-1 victory over the Lightning.

The Blackhawks trailed until Teuvo Teravainen scored with about six minutes left. Then Antoine Vermette scored the game-winner with 4:34 left.

Alex Killorn scored on Tampa Bay’s fifth shot of the game, and Ben Bishop made that stand up until the Blackhawks exploded late.

The Blackhawks are aiming to win the Cup for the third time in the last six years, with the core of Jonathan Toews  and Patrick Kane.

Game 2 is Saturday night in Tampa.
