CHICAGO – Upgrading the depth in the defensive ranks figures to be one of Stan Bowman’s big priorities when building his roster for the Blackhawks for the 2016-2017 season.
On Thursday he began by keeping two of his own.
The team announced that they’ve signed defensemen Brandon Mashinter and Michal Rozsival each to a one-year contract. It’s a much calmer move than their last one on the even of the NHL Draft, when they traded the popular Andrew Shaw to Montreal for a pair of draft picks.
Rozsival is the veteran of the group having completed four seasons with the Blackhawks and 15 overall in the NHL. He saw action in 51 games last year and scored a goal with 12 assists.
Meanwhile Mashinter is coming off his first NHL season in which he played 41 games for the Blackhawks, scoring four goals with an assist.
