CHICAGO – For the first time in almost a decade, people can talk about the college football played in Champaign with hope for the future.
That’s what happens when you bring in a coach with a winning pedigree to the program.
Lovie Smith’s arrival at Illinois has re-energized the program after a series of on the field and off the field issues.
That optimism has carried over to his players who will try to get things turned around under the former Bears coach sooner rather than later.
Before practice begins this week in East Central Illinois, quarterback Wes Lunt, defensive end DJ Smoot and running back Ke’Shawn Vaughn dropped by the Sports Feed studios to discuss Lovie’s influence on the program.
