(CHICAGO) — After a third loss in four nights on Wednesday, several Chicago White Sox players used the next morning to relax–on a fishing dock.
Adam Eaton, Adam LaRoche, Zach Duke and Tyler Saladino gathered at Northerly Island Thursday morning for the team’s ‘Gone Fishing’ event as part of Sox Serve Week.
The players spent the morning fishing with a group of military youth served by USO Illinois whose parents are currently or were recently deployed.
Eaton’s parents both served in the military, and his brother Zachary is a United States Air Force Captain. Duke also has a deep military connection as both his grandfathers fought in WWII.
The four Sox players are all avid fishers, and often find places to fish during road trips throughout the season.
Players like Duke also enjoyed the time with their family, as his daughter Madison proved to catch on quickly to the sport.
