CHICAGO – He’s not quite the “Keeper of the Cup” but he does have the white gloves for his significant piece of that he carried around on Thursday afternoon.
Mike Trostel wore them as he took the Havemeyer Trophy to the Sports Feed set at the WGN Studios for his apperance on the show.
The USGA historian brought the trophy along with him as he talked about the historic US Amateur golf tournament which made its first appearance back in Chicago since 1997 this week.
It features 321 of America’s best amateur golfers fighting for the Havemeyer Trophy-which goes to only one at the end of a week long of golf.
That competition is going on at Olympia Fields this week and Trostel talked with Josh Frydman and Jarrett Payton about the tournament and the trophy that will be presented to the winner.
