CHICAGO — A woman is speaking out about her claims of sexual harassment against a former aide for Illinois House Speaker Mike Madigan.

Kevin Quinn was fired from Madigan’s office on Monday.

Alaina Hampton said the political upheaval should have happened a year ago when she first complained about the top aide’s behavior.

Hampton said Quinn sent her a series of inappropriate text messages leading up to February of last year. “I managed the unwanted attention for five months. I asked him to stop seven times. It never stopped. I feared not responding to my supervisor because I did not want him to tell the Speaker or Alderman Quinn that I was not cooperating with my work,” said Hampton.

Flanked by her legal team Tuesday, Hampton said she never wanted it to come to this – a press conference and a formal complaint to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission against Madigan and Alderman Marty Quinn, who she called a mentor.

Alleged harasser, Kevin Quinn, is the alderman’s younger brother and was Hampton’s supervisor.

In a letter to Speaker Madigan in November, Hampton outlined what happened and why she quit.

In her text replies to Quinn she said, “I need you to stop. I’m not interested. I just want to do my work.”

Hampton said she also told Alderman Quinn about his brother’s unwanted behavior but he did nothing.

In a statement Tuesday, Alderman Quinn said he did not take action at first because he wanted to protect Hampton’s privacy as she requested.  Quinn also told his brother to cease all communication with Hampton, as she requested.

Hampton left the Democratic organization last April.

Kevin Quinn recently pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and his estranged wife has an order of protection against him.
