15-year-old girl found shot to death in west Aurora home

AURORA, Ill. — Police are investigating after a teen was found shot to death in her west Aurora home early Sunday.

Just after 12:20 a.m., officers responded to reports of a shooting on the 400 block of Florida Avenue in Aurora. When they arrived, first responders found a victim identified by neighbors as a 15-year-old girl suffering from a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead on the scene by paramedics.

Neighbors say the teen victim lived in the house where the shooting took place. According to one neighbor, they heard a single gunshot before police arrived on the scene.

Detectives are still investigating the circumstances of the incident, and haven’t said if they have anyone in custody. Police ask anyone with information to call them directly at 630-256-5500.
