HARVEY, Ill. — A woman was found dead inside a burning house in Harvey on Wednesday morning.
Firefighters received the call about the fire near 148th and Leavitt Avenue around 4 a.m.
The woman was discovered with a gunshot wound to the head. She was found in a back bedroom. She was believed to be older than 60. Her identity hasn’t been released.
Officials believe the fire started after the woman was shot.
The house is a total loss.
Harvey spokesperson Sean Howard says a person of interest is in custody and it’s being investigated as a “domestic” incident.
