Wilmette fifth graders set record for most twins in a class

Are you seeing double? So are the teachers at Highcrest Middle School in Wilmette.

The fifth graders have set a new world record for the number of sets of twins in a single grade: 23

The students easily surpassed the old record of 16 sets.

School officials say they believe that a post September 11th baby boom and the advancement of fertility treatments have contributed to the unusually large number of twins.

Of the 23 sets, though, only one pair is identical.

Each set of twins dressed alike this morning to take official photos with the Guinness Book of World Records.
