GLENDALE, Ariz. — Actor and comedian Will Ferrell is set to suit up for the Chicago White Sox for the team’s upcoming spring training game against the defending champion San Francisco Giants Thursday.

The White Sox formally announced Wednesday that Ferrell, 47, will play in Thursday’s 4:05 p.m. game from Glendale, Arizona.

The Cubs later announced that he would be playing for the North Siders as well.

Ferrell will play all nine positions for 10 teams at five Arizona Spring Training games on Thursday. He plans to go from game to game via helicopter, an anonymous source told the Associated Press.

The former “SNL” star is participating in the games as production begins on a new special from Web site Funny Or Die, in partnership with Major League Baseball. The program is set to air exclusively on HBO later this year.
