CHICAGO — A Chicago priest is charged with sexually abusing two women and attacking a 17-year-old girl.

Rigoberto Gamez, 52, of the 2300 block of West Le Moyne Street in Wicker Park, is charged with sexual abuse and battery. He is listed as the associate vicar for canonical affairs for the Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago.

The charges involve a 17-year-old girl, a 19-year-old woman and 29-year-old woman. The alleged attacks began in November 2016.

Gamez previously worked at Our Lady of Tepeyac Parish in Little Village at 3047 W. Cermak Rd. Police said he joined St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2300 W. Le Moyne St., three months ago.

Gamez will be released on his own recognizance and required to wear an electronic monitoring bracelet. He must surrender his passport. He also may not contact any of the victims or their families, or anyone under 18 years old.
