CHICAGO -- We're only through half of January and I'm already sick of the cold! But these apps will help you get through the rest of winter

Winter Survival Kit
Free for iOS and Android

If you find yourself stuck or stranded in severe weather conditions, this app will help you out. Winter Survival Kit will help you find your current location, call 911, notify your friends and family, calculate how long you can run your engine to keep warm and stay safe from carbon monoxide poisoning.

Clear Streets
http://clearstreets.org/
ClearStreets is a website that tracks Chicago's snow plows in real time by scraping data from the City of Chicago's Plow Tracker. When snow has stopped falling, the Plow Tracker turns off but ClearStreets is always on. Type in your location and see when your street was most recently plowed.

Poncho
http://poncho.is/
Poncho delivers personalized weather reports tailored to your exact location and daily routine by email or text. The daily alerts even include hair and pollen forecasts -- so fun!

Chicago Weather Center
Free for iOS and Android

Shameless plug for my man Tom Skilling! This app has everything you need: Severe weather alerts, easy access to our weather blog and futurecast radar.
