California officials say a ferocious wildfire North-West of Los Angeles is now nearly 60 percent contained.

The “Springs Fire” has torched about 28,000 acres and 15 homes since it began Thursday.

Firefighters say a thick fog moving inland from the coast Saturday helped their efforts, bringing cooler temperatures and higher humidity.

Officials expect to have the fire under control by Monday.
