A home invasion and sexual assault in Warrenville has residents on edge, leaving lots of unanswered questions while the suspect remains on the loose.

Police say they received a 911 call from the Country Ridge apartments on Country Ridge Drive around 3 AM Tuesday morning. They say a woman was home sleeping in her first floor apartment – where she lives alone – when a man snuck in through an unlocked patio door and sexually assaulted her.The woman was taken to the hospital and released later that day.

The crime is somewhat surprising, as Warrenville generally does not see that much criminal activity. Prior to this incident, Warrenville has not had a home invasion and sexual assault occur in the town for twelve years.

The Warrenville Police Department reminded residents to be aware of their surroundings, including those in their neighborhood. Anyone with any information about what happened are asked to call the Warrenville Police Dept at 630-393-213.
