The Bears and former Chicago linebacker Brian Urlacher are denying any involvement with a group that opposes same-sex marriage.

The National Organization for Marriage posted pictures on its website advertising Bears items being auctioned at an upcoming fundraiser.

It shows autographed items from Urlacher and the late Walter Payton.

Below the images the group issued a “big thanks” to the Bears organization for supporting their cause.

A Bears spokesman says the items were a private gift to the group’s president and not intended for a fundraiser.

Urlacher also said he does not support the group.

After the Chicago Tribune raised questions about the fundraiser, the organization removed all references to the Bears from its website Wednesday.
