United flight blows 2 tires during takeoff at O’Hare, no injuries reported

CHICAGO -- It was a rough ride for some passengers at O’Hare International Airport Monday afternoon after a plane blew two tires just before takeoff.

Officials at O’Hare say no one was injured when the airplane blew two tires on the runway Monday afternoon just before 2 p.m.

A United Airlines spokesperson said United Flight 306 was set to take off on a trip to Fort Myers, Florida, when it sustained blown tires.

Emergency crews responded, and all of the passengers were taken off of the plane. Authorities say 150 passengers and six crew members were on board at the time, but no injuries were reported.

People on other planes on the tarmac say seeing the emergency response made for a few tense moments.

“I looked over and saw a lot of vehicles with lights flashing, I didn’t know what was going on at first," passenger Cristina Araps said.

United says the passengers were put on a different plane will be flown to Fort Myers, set to depart at around 5p.m.
