ComEd crews are working to repair the damage from an underground vault fire that forced street closures downtown.

The fire started Tuesday night near Madison and Franklin streets.

Smoke could be seen coming from an open manhole.

ComEd officials say an electrical cabled failed, possibly caused by melting snow.

The street was blocked off for several hours, but was reopened around midnight.

No one was injured.
