It’s been another weekend of escalating violence in Chicago.

Perhaps in the most compact timeframe this weekend, Chicago police say two people were killed, seven injured, at four different locations, within 20 minutes of each other.

In one incident, shortly after 12:30 a.m., a 38-year-old man was shot and killed in East Garfield Park.

Police say he had just parked his car when five men approached him in the 3600 block of W. 5th Ave. and one of the men shot him in the head. He died at the scene.

About 15 minutes earlier in West Garfield Park, a 38-year-old man was shot in the head in the 4400 block of West Monroe.

He died at the scene. An 18-year-old woman was also shot in that incident along with a 25-year-old man. Both are hospitalized.

And, around the same time, three people were shot in the Lawndale neighborhood in the 3000 block of West Arthington when someone walked up to a group of people and opened fire. One 32-year-old man, a 27-year-old man, and a 26-year-old woman were shot and taken to Mount Sinai this morning.
