A new social media craze has teenagers summoning Charlie, a mythical Mexican demon, with a homemade spirit board.

The challenge requires people to cross two pencils over each other and write the words "yes" and "no" in boxes on a piece of paper placed underneath the makeshift cross.

Participants then must ask, "Charlie, Charlie, are you here?" and if the top pencil twists to the "yes" boxes, the game begins.

Some Twitter users have been advising against playing the game, reminding them of the dangers of trying to make contact with demonic entities. There are even warnings against not saying "goodbye" to Charlie at the end of the game.

The trend first appeared Monday and has since gone viral across several social media platforms.
