BALTIMORE — Former NFL linebacker Ray Lewis is known for being outspoken, and in a new video, Lewis is seen using his notorious passion to call out the looters and rioters who have been ravaging Baltimore the past couple of days.

In a video uploaded to Lewis’s official Facebook page, the former Baltimore Ravens star issues a long, impassioned statement, calling for the violent clashes to end.

“No way this can happen in our city,” he begins.

“Violence is not the answer; violence has never been the answer,” he declares in an heated two-minute denunciation of the recent ongoings in the Baltimore streets.

He says the violence and the looting take away from the real issues surrounding the death of Freddie Gray, whose death prompted demonstrations after Gray died from a spinal injury days after police arrested him.

Lewis’s video was uploaded to Facebook Tuesday morning, and by early Tuesday afternoon it had thousands of likes and shares.

Watch as Lewis pleads with the people of Baltimore to stop the destruction of the city in the video above.
