Truck driver killed in expressway shooting during evening rush

OAK BROOK, Ill. – A man was killed Friday afternoon in a shooting on a Chicago area expressway.

Police say 43-year-old Eduardo Munoz from Sunrise, Florida was traveling eastbound on I-88 in a semi truck around 4 p.m.  A second vehicle was also traveling eastbound and “for unknown reasons,” a person in that vehicle fired shots at Munoz’s truck.

Munoz was struck.  He was able to pull the truck over to the shoulder.  He was taken to the hospital where he later died.

The shooting happened near milepost 138.5 in Oak Brook near York Road.

Lanes were shutdown while police conducted their investigation.

There is no one in custody at this time.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen anything to contact police.

The investigation continues.
