Thousands of Palestinian protesters and sympathizers demonstrated today in downtown Chicago at the Israeli Consulate.

The protestors demanded an immediate halt to Israel’s military action in Gaza, where more than 400 people have been killed.

They say there are a quarter million Palestinians in Chicago and they are not being heard.

The consulate general released a statement in response to the marchers saying, “Today, is a tragic day. 13 Israeli soldiers were killed by the terrorist organization Hamas. We regret the loss of civilians on both sides. Hamas continues to brutally  attack 6 million Israeli citizens and puts its own population in danger. We have to stop it.”
Secretary of State John Kerry says he expects to return to the Middle East soon in an effort to stop the bloodshed in Gaza.
