Texas woman dies after pulled from Chicago River

A woman has died after she was pulled from the frigid Chicago River.

The 30-year-old woman was found in the water near Michigan Ave.  around 4:15 a.m. Tuesday.

Police say she was visiting from Texas and may have slipped and fallen into the river.

She had been under water for about 15 minutes before a fire department diver pulled her out.

She was taken to Northwestern Hospital in critical condition but died shortly after that.

A witness who called police said the woman was visiting Chicago from Houston and was staying with a friend at a nearby hotel.
