CHICAGO RIDGE — A 16-year-old boy from Oak Lawn is on life support after a road rage incident in southwest suburban Chicago Ridge.
People in two cars got into an altercation around 9 p.m. on Friday night, near 99th Street and Ridgeland Avenue.
Both cars drove south several blocks, where the teen got out of one of the cars and hit the other car with a baseball bat. That driver took off, and was chased.
Police say the teen got out of his car two more times, and hit the other car with a bat. The final time, he also climbed onto the hood of the car.
The teen fell off and hit his head, when the driver tried to get away.
Police say the driver went to the police station right away, to give his side of the story. He is 19-years-old and from Chicago Ridge. He has not been charged. A preliminary police investigation determined he was acting in self defense.
