A suburban bank robbery ended in gunfire today with the suspect dead.
The suspect allegedly robbed the Chase Bank in the 900 block of Grove St around 3 p.m. today.
The man’s name is not being released, but the FBI say this same man hit a bank on Sheridan Rd in Chicago and got away with it last Thursday.
Today, was a different story.
Officers surrounded the suspect, who was armed with a 9mm gun, outside a Bennison’s Bakery near Maple Ave and Davis Street, about a block from the Chase Bank.
“Evanston police officer yelled at the suspect to drop the weapon,” Cmdr Jay Parrot said.
The suspect did not comply and the officers fired their weapons.
He was rushed to Evanston hospital where he later died.
Back at the scene, police filled the neighborhood gathering evidence like the backpack filled with an undisclosed amount of money and the suspect’s gun.
