WAUKEGAN, Ill. — While other cities cancelled their polar plunges because of the frigid temperatures, Waukegan residents proved they’re tough.

At least 50 brave souls plunged from the freezing air into the freezing Lake Michigan.

The water temperature of Lake Michigan in Waukegan, by the way, is a balmy 33 degrees.

The money raised by the event goes to programs in Waukegan, mainly to help low income boys and girls.
