ORLAND PARK, Ill — A man from Orland Park says he owes his life to a bottle of hot sauce.

Randy Schmitz was sampling Flashbang Hot Sauce last summer at the Pepper Palace in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

A dash of the sauce triggered a seizure.

Doctors treating Schmitz found a cancerous brain tumor which was removed.

Schmitz says if he hadn’t had the seizure, doctors might not have found the tumor in time.

He wrote to the Pepper Palace thanking them for saving his life and they sent him a sampler box of sauces.  But he hasn’t worked up the courage to open the bottle yet.
