The bishop of Springfield, Ill., showed his disapproval of the gay marriage law by holding an exorcism on Wednesday

Bishop Thomas Paprocki led the ritual at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Springfield.

He has said it’s scandalous that so many Catholic politicians allowed the same-sex marriage bill to pass.

He faces stiff opposition against the exorcism.

An online Christian community called Faithful America called it a “political stunt.” Nearly 15,000 people have assigned its petition.
