Sources: Fox Lake police lieutenant’s death to be ruled a suicide

FOX LAKE, Ill. — Sources tell WGN News that officials will announce Wednesday that Fox Lake police lieutenant Joe Gliniewicz death will be ruled a suicide.

Fox Lake police say they plan to release significant new information about the death of police lieutenant Joe Gliniewicz at a news conference Wednesday morning.

The lieutenant was found shot to death last September.  He radioed he was chasing three suspects.  Officers later found him dead in a swampy area. He had been shot twice with his own weapon, once in the vest and once in the torso.

Sources tell WGN that investigators will release the details of Lt Gliniewicz’s victimology report and it will claim he was using police department money for personal purchases.

Police have not found any suspects.
